Finally, Pin-Up Barbie
Don't you love it when things come up to the surface like this?
The icky combination of girlhood play and sexual fetish has always defined Barbie. But it's never been quite as apparent as it is now. Looks like Mattel's finally getting honest with its new line Barbies for, as the Denver Post puts it, "adults who appreciate '50s cheesecake."
I wonder when they're going to start making Star Wars figures for that demo. I'm thinking R2-D2 would look great in hot pants.
(Actually, the saddest part is that Barbie dressed as a 50s pin-up girl actually looks less risque than the new line of "Street Scene" Barbies Mattel has unleashed to compete with Bratz.)
